Hello everyone
I haven't been on the forums for almost a year now. I just got back into scanning. I currently have a PRO-649 scanner with a yagi antenna configured for 120 MHz to 137 MHz reception. What's a scanner under $200 that goes in the 200 MHz-300 MHz range, and goes into the 1000+ MHz range? I do like the ICOM tabletop receivers, but they seem to expensive. I definitely want a tabletop receiver.

What would be a good receiver, something besides a RTL-SDR?

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks

The Icoms are communications receivers, as opposed to scanners. Even used models that meet your frequency range of interest will sell for far more than $200. What areas of interest do you want to monitor?

What are you hoping to monitor above 1000MHz? What mode?

There are literally dozens of SDRs besides the RTL sticks. As many have asked, it depends greatly on what you want to hear, and your budget.

There isn't all that much above 1 Ghz to hear that would interest a typical hobbyist, frankly. We hams have networks, both voice and Amateur TV in the 1.2 Ghz range and there are many point to point links in this range and higher.

Apart from answering the questions others have posed, we have a decent start on getting a handle on the SDR market in our wiki. I'd suggest some time reading what we have, starting here...

Software Defined Radios - The RadioReference Wiki

It's very likely incomplete in many ways - the SDR field is exploding rapidly - but it will be a good place to start
