HF freqs for STS 114 support in July

Last I heard, the mission is scheduled no earlier than July 13...

Anyway, the file below contains freqs from the May 2005 MT, Grove's NASA page (with permission) and George F's popular Milaircomms site. Those of you that use the TenTec RX320 or 321 will have no trouble here; just unzip the files and move them to the appropriate directory.

The files are not deduped; you will find that several freqs have multiple users. I leave the organization of the file(s) to the users

Those of you that don't own 320s, don't feel left out. These .320 files are really .csv files; so you can easily read them in Excel or Works spreadsheet using the titles found in the enclosed readme file. Just unzip, rename the extensions to .csv and you should be on your way.

So there's no way for someone to download the file as you would normally do. Take a look at the Blue Angels and AAFD threads on page 2 of the Maryland board to see what I mean.

Umm, yes it does. If you are not seeing it, the problem is on your end. The files are showing up in three boxes, just as you describe. :?

Ok dummy question - why can I see the attached files in the messages on the Maryland board and not here? Very strange. Perhaps you can see it because you're a moderator?

I've already posted Lindsay. The workaround is as I had set it up - folks send me an email, and the file is theirs. No sweat.

Yes it is strange, and maybe it is becuase I am a moderator that I can see it, but that doesn't explain why you can see them somewhere else but not here. Here is a screen shot of your original post.

EDIT: Removed attachement as problem has been solved.

Wow, I logged out and indeed everything disappeared! I think the answer may lie at the bottom of the page. Does it say you can "Download" files down there at the bottom right?

Yeah I'd start scanning a day or two before launch. If the previous pattern holds from past launches, Cape Radio will be doing testing and coordination practices, and there may well be some work being done at the individual sites for setup (Ascension, ect.). Obviously with this launch - and the time lapse in between - it's almost impossible to make a firm recommendation.

I'd be watching the Worldwide Utility News server for hints as we get closer to launch date; I'd also watch George F's Milaircommschat list on Yahoo, since he's practically at their doorstep.

I'd bet that there will be a full court press seeing that this is the first launch since the disaster, so it's very likely that lots will be happening a day or two before. But exactly where....anybody's guess....

For those that might not have heard; the launch date has been set to July 13 and it will be a daylight launch.

Considering this, there is a strategy that you can begin to use. If you live near the Florida coast, it's possible you might hear freqs from 8 mhz or so and down; if you're further afield, it's pretty unlikely (the further away you are, the less chance that the lower freqs will propagate due to D layer absorption).

So I would create 2 version(s) of your file - one for freqs below about 8 or 9 Mhz, the other for freqs above that range. This will simplify things somewhat, as you will not need to scan freqs that will not propagate. This way, too, if any testing is done at night, your list of possible targets will be similarly reduced.

Be sure to watch the various boards - the Worldwide Utility News board on qth.net in particular, as well as the Milaircommschat Yahoo board - to see what is happening. Start looking 4 or 5 days before; it's going to be very difficult to know exactly when things will be gearing up.
