Hi am a total noob to this.

I recently just purchased my first scanner radio. It is a Uniden Bearcat UBC3300XLT. I live in bucks county and am trying to listen to its trunking system which is a Motorola Type II SmartZone. My scanner only has Type II 800 MHz and Type II 900 Mhz. Would it be correct to use on of these? What do I have to know first. If anyone has any suggestions on tutorials or beginers guide for this stuff it would be greatly appreciated.

I am afraid the answer is no. The Bucks county system is a 500 MHz system. The built in trunking feature is only for 800/900 MHz systems.

Since your scanner is a UK/EU clone of the BC250, ya might try getting a copy of the manual here:

and programming it using the offset as shown in the RRDB for the Bucks County system. These threads should get you up to speed on that system:

Ok, so these built in TrunkTracker settings are meant for more generic systems?? So to get my scanner to follow Bucks's trunking system I just have to enter the base and numbers manually? Those threads you suggested look very helpful with what I am trying to do, thanks!

Also, since I have the Euro version, am I going to run into any problems listening to American systems, or are they run pretty much the same?

Ok. I have still not been succesful in listening to the bucks county trunking system!!

I have a fairly good understanding of what I am doing now, but its still not working correctly. I will explain step by step the process I am doing...

-I have programmed all the frequencies for the lower makefield cell into channels in bank one, starting with channel 1 being the base frequency.

-I have setup bank 1 to trunk as Motorola Type II UHF and set base freq., spacing, and offset.

-I edited the Talk group list to include all the police zones.

-I then hit trunk to start trunk tracking on 501.0375.

Is there something I am missing? Am i totally overlooking something or not linking certain variables together?

What should the display on my scanner look/behave like when trunking is working succesfully?


Sorry for all these questions, but i am still learning. Im sure once I have this down Ill be explaining this stuff to other n0obs!! :wink:

This is is about as far as I can take you since I have not programmed base/offsets before.

I am also from Yardley PA. You will love the Pro96. I have one and the Bucks County systems comes in clear and loud.

On the Pro96. You want to follow the instructions that you stated earlier, but also you need to change the Table setting to "Coustom"

I will have to look at the instructions again on how to do these.
