Hey Everyone - I guess you could say I'm kind of new to the scanner world, however, we're always had a scanner in the house since I can remember. I was doing fine when York County was using their old frequencies but now, I'm just plain confused as to how to get the York County police, fire, and rescue programmed into my scanner. As I read through a number of these posts, it appears to me that the new frequencies aren't even accessable as of the present?

The scanner I currently have is a Radio Shack Pro93...I believe I got it in 2003. it's one of those that has the capability of programming trunked frequencies (800Mhz). Will I be able to listen to Y/C with this scanner? I'm really not looking to purchase software and cables and stuff...just looking to listen to my scanner at night before I go to bed 8)

If anyone could give me a few pointers, it would be much appreciated!

Yes, you'll need a digital scanner to monitor this sytem. Both Radio Shack and Uniden offer digital scanners. Be prepared, though, if you're going to buy one new, they're very expensive (~$500!).

The digital systems and trunking in particular can be confusing for anyone. Since you comment that you don't want to purchase cables and things like that, you might be able to find someone in your area that might be willing to program a new scanner for you, and even give you a few tips and tricks.

Let us know what else we can do to help you!
