• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

A couple of things...

Might help if you clarify: The MTS-2000 is a portable radio. The MCS-2000 is the mobile. Which one do you have?

There are no 800MHz frequencies available for ham use. I think that might have been a typo? Did you mean 900MHz?

MCS-2000's were pretty common, so finding someone with software/cable should be pretty easy. Might want to check around with some of the ham groups. I think I still have the software/cable somewhere, but I don't do programming like that anymore.

There are 900MHz ham repeaters in the bay area. Might want to check with the clubs that run those. Most 900MHz users are running old commercial gear, so finding someone with the MCS-2000 software should be pretty easy.

Your best bet would be finding a programmer on eBay, it's much cheaper than obtaining the software that is EOL from motorola, before anything, hook a antenna up to the radio, then preform a basic test on the unit, put it into service mode, then go to "1 CSQ" and press the PTT, and have another 900mhz radio on the frequency (1 CSQ is RX: 935.0625, TX: 896.0125) have the other radio programmed for RX as 896.0125, and the TX as 935.0625, and see if TX and RX is good, it should measure at about 3-12 watts for power

the radio is a model 1 MTS 2000 mobile witn oem microphone gathered that from batlabs.org site,
bought it at hro For 65.00 + 30,00 for power cord for power supply moto parts,

have reason to think it's on ham radio service no marking on case like there from a county state tribal local federal,

govermental or service by anyone, shop number from a radio shop
no scratchs etchings and the mobile mount with it.
thanks for the intel.
and your time too

This is a MCS2000.
And this is a MTS2000.
There is no such thing as a MTS2000 mobile radio. They were all portable handie talkies.
