High pitched whine

Just got my G4 and I'm programming it. I'd like to know why I hear this high pitch whine when listening to some talk groups. Specifically, this happens when changing knob positions. Even though I might have the same talk group in another knob position, when I do change to another knob position, where this talk group is by itself, it does that whining sound. It comes on and after awhile, the voice comes thru.

I had the same problem or at least it sounds the same when I updated to the latest FW release. It was random. I reverted back to the prior FW and never heard it again. Did the problem go away or did you come up with a fix?

When I first noticed this noise, it was random. It wasn't doing it on all knob positions or zones. I printed out a report, and started looking for differences. I found mine in the group ID setting. Look at the column labeled "Alert Tone", make sure they're all set to "None". Of course, this is only appropriate if you don't want to hear any alert tones when that particular talk group comes on. Even if you did, I found it intrusive because while the tone is going on, it cuts out the voice. Hope this helped.
