I just moved to Highlands County from lee county, im trying to program and monitor the county Fire on my BCT15. When I attempted to upload the Trunk system its showing an error because its digital. Any suggestions on a cheap radio to work for this county? Thanks in advance.

I have great luck with a Uniden 325P2.

Its base unit cousin is the 996P2.

Very reliable and trouble-free!

I use Freescan to program both. It's free!

Highlands County is part of the Polk, Hardee, Highlands, Desoto p-25 System
all radios will key up whichever tower is closest to them
Example: if a Polk radio is closer to a Hardee or highlands tower the Polk TG that that radio is on will show up on that respective tower but not unless there keying up that counties tower

I was in Highlands (Avon Park area) this week for work. I don't make it down there that often. While the SDS-100 was loud and clear, the BCD325P2 struggled with decoding. It wouldn't lock on the control channel at times and what did come across was garbled. That has been my experience with other simulcast systems in the Tampa Bay Area with that scanner. Both scanners were running off a common antenna on my vehicle. The SDS-100 continues to be my primary scanner for digital for that very reason. Hope this helps.
