Highway Patrol/Clark County

I am trying to make sense of the Statewide System in Clark County.
Could someone please give me the numbers (only) of the sites I should monitor when in Las Vegas.
I will be travelling around the entire county.
I have located the OBVIOUS ones but cannot tell which of the others might help me in my travels.

Also, how do I go about monitoring multiple sites on an EDACS system?
I know how to monitor a SINGLE site, but not multiple sites.
Do I just enter them in LCN order?

For an EDACS system the frequencies in the trunk have to be put order. For this ill-fated system, remember to leave the first channel blank in your scanner bank. For example, I use a Pro 95 scanner and have this system in bank 1. I have left channel 100 blank and keyed the qst frquency of the LCN in 101. I hope this helps.

Why do you need to leave the 1st channel blank? I am just now trying to load the NHP into my Pro-94 and came across this thread. Any other advice?

Most of the Radio Shack Trunking Scanners number the channels in a bank starting with zero - in other words the first channel of the bank is 0 not 1 or 100 instead of 101 etc - EDACS systems use LCN (logical Channel Numbering) but the first channel is 1 not zero - therefore you must have the first frequency of the LCN sequence - in channel 1 (which is actually the second channel of the bank in the scanner) the second in chan 2 (which is actually the third channel of the bank in the scanner) etc - as it will look for channel 1 not channel 0 - in others words EDACS system doesnt start with channel 0 it starts with channel 1 - hope this is clear as mud

Monitoring Public Safety & Others In Metro Las Vegas, Ne

Some people have asked questions about how to monitor various radio systems in the Las Vegas area and many answers with frequencies, talkgroup IDs', system descriptions, and more can be found in a new radio publication that is available. It is called the Southern Nevada Radio Scanner Directory which is available from Radio World in Boulder City Nevada (702-294-2666) and he ships by mail also. It can further be found at Amateur Electronic Supply (AES) in Las Vegas and is available by phone order from AES at 1-800-634-6227. Their stock number is NVSCAN1. A new edition is expected out within the next ten days says the publisher. I have found the publication to be very useful and it consists of 46 pages of good, mostly verified information.

Actualy this makes perfect sense. I do a little work with logical circuts and they count 0 to 9 not 1 to 10. EDACS uses logical counting not computer counting.

Las Vegas traffic on the Washoe system

As odd as it may sound, for a couple of minutes this afternoon on the Washoe Co EDACS system up here in Reno, talkgroup 05-121 came alive, and it was a very busy for a couple minutes with alot of traffic. It was obvious this was a larger metro area. Just as quickly as it came, it was gone. During the time it was active, I heard several references to Las Vegas traffic. Specifically they were talking about cleanup of debris on Highway 95. Some reference to the intersection at Craig Rd were given, and some references to I-15 as well.
Then I noticed that 05-121 was in fact the talkgroup for NHP in the north Las Vegas area. Hmmm.

Joey that is not odd at all. Remember the state shared radio system is a statewide system. Any talkgroup could be made to output on any site in the state.

Washoe has a patch to that system for the NHP traffic in the Reno area. But if a user on the state system in Reno had a Vegas talkgroup selected the Vegas traffic would be heard on the state system in the Reno area. Then if the Washoe system is set to patch all NHP (05) talkgroups, it would also be heard on the Washoe system.

I would call it odd that a channel used more than 400 miles away at the other end of the state would be simulcast on a foreign counties system. Thats all.
