[Yes, I know DPS wants to be referred to as something else, but are referred to as Highway Patrol in State statutes and they will always be the AZ Highway Patrol to me.]

Glad to hear that the two officers injured have already been released from the hospital. The suspect was only 24 years old. What makes a young person like that think that he has to shoot at officers? What had he done that was worth losing his life over? Keep us updated here, I'm curious to know why he shot at officers during a traffic stop.

In that neighborhood, it is a sociological antipathy to authority. 2100 West Thomas was once a solid middle class area in the 1950s and 1960s. The area of 3500 West McDowell was a working class area during that area. Both experienced urban decline and then gangs and thereafter the cartels moved in and ran the crime enterprise.

The area is a shooting gallery.
