Hello. Sounds like 155.16 151.4 simplex has the Sierra Madre Search & Rescue Team with related radio traffic.
156.33R 107.2 FastTac had traffic earlier. Red 2 = 470.0875R 151.4 Hz.

155.16 is thier "Main" Freq for SM SAR. It sounds like they found the hiker but they cannot get to him, and he cannot get to them as the terrain is too steep. Verdugo still has communications with him. Also if you scan the GMRS channels SM SAR is on it sometimes as they dont have alot of "Real" portable radios.

Affirm, was listening to all of the active channels mentioned. Interesting rescue. Great work!

hey Mick, are you listening to the traffic on RED 2 or White 1?

Yup, Where about do you live where you could still receive the signal. I live in Arcadia, and the VHF freq (white one) was very sketchy and not always clear. Now the RED channels are always clear where i live. (UHF)

The White 1 VHF frequency is simplex (probably from HT's) so that is why it came in scratchy. One large hill between you and the transmission its going to get weak real fast. The helicopter should have came in good though since he was up high. I'm 70 miles from Monrovia and could copy the helo but not the ground units.

The Verdugo Red 1 channel is high up on a repeater and much stronger so it can be heard farther away.
