While in Salt Lake City week before last I picked up a lot of traffic on 165.1375 MHz using a tone of 114.8 Hz. I believe it was all simplex. I heard several roll calls, talk of "Security Base" and "Base Secure," and "All units in quarters." I wondered if this could be traffic from Hill Air Force Base. Any ideas?

I have it listed as "Security Base", but do not know where or who. AudioDave1 let me know that it is a common Air Force Base Security Freq. Hill Field uses a trunking system, and I have heard the Base Security trunking. So, I now have the freq 165.1375, in a dedicated receiver and see if I can get it figured out.

Listening yesterday, I'ver determined that it is a Military post, with an RV lot, Swimming pool, and an "East side Perimiter fence". I'm still listening. I pretty sure the freq is a repeater out, not simplex. I'm not 100% possitve on that yet, but pretty sure.

It sounds like a good mystery! Thanks for checking it out. If it's a repeater then it could be some distance from SLC. It seemed fairly weak from my location near the capitol.

I'm in Bountiful/North Salt Lake. The signal is weak here also. Nothing heard so far other than security checks.
