Two ideas:

1. Search This (Utah) Forum for hill - there are a few mentions.

2. Periodically check here for updates. As they get new information, it's usually posted as fast as they get it.

Most of the Hill trunk traffic is P25 digital. It has been a couple of years since I've actively monitored the system. Guess I'll have to clear some space in one of my radios and give it a listen. I did a quick listen a couple of weeks ago, and did hear assorted Security and Flight Line Ops traffic.

The frequency list posted at the Monitoring Times site is out of date. Hill now uses the offset frequencies (e.g. 407.3625, 408.1625) for their digital trunked system. I live in Ogden and the signals from Hill's digital system come in loud and clear on my PRO-2096. However, when I try to scan the system in trunked mode, the 2096 won't follow the transmissions. Apparently I haven't programmed the correct base frequency for the system, because in search mode the 2096 receives the Hill traffic just fine.

Keep in mind that Hill Tower is closed on the weekends, so if you're listening in the aero band on 127.150 or 263.150, you won't hear a thing on the weekends. I think the ground support crews that use the digital system do work Saturday & Sunday, though.

David,

Thanks for the update,
All you will hear in the weekends is ATIS and they are 134.925 and 397.9
They tell you the latest weather and what runway is in use etc.

The 2 tower freq's are correct I hear them Loud and clear.

Thanks,

Henk

To hear HAFB requires a digital scanner with the following custom trunk table:
Base freq 406.400 - Offset 400 - Step size 12.5 kHz

I have it programmed into my Pro-2096, it will follow the conversations with this info.

Happy Scanning

Okay, this is strange. I am using a BC785D, and a BC296D with the following settings:
Base Freq 406.1500, Offset 380, and step size of 12.5 on control channel 410.1625. And I'm trunking fine. I wonder why?? Also I have "found" Site 4 using a control channel of 407.9625. Real strong by the Airport. Using Unitrunker, I've documented a number of talkgroups that are new to the Internet. Unfortunatly I'm not Air Force, so I'm having trouble IDing the different users.

Gary,

I don't have a digital scanner well it's digital but it won't pick up the digital signal.
Anyway I did have some wierd things happen too that I did pick up some signal on my PRo-97 and I could understand it and all but it was only for a sec or 2 .

anyway I guess i need to invest in to a Pro-96 or so.

Thanks for the reply all .

I forgot to mention, the data channel is 410.1625

Thanks for the info. on the base frequency, Jon. I will program it into my PRO-2096 and see if I can get the scanner to follow the conversation.

At my location I can also receive a data channel on 410.3625. Any idea if this is one of the frequencies used by Hill's system, or is it the control channel for another federal trunked system?

If you're in the market for a PRO-96, you might want to check eBay if Radio Shack isn't having one of their "$100.00 off" sales on the PRO-96/PRO-2096. I recently purchased a PRO-96 from a seller on eBay with 100% positive feedback who sells new PRO-96's for $389.00 plus $19.99 shipping, and so far I've had no problems with the unit.
