It's been a while since trying to monitor Tampa and Hillsborough County. Can someone give me the Cliff's notes on what has happened with the Hills East/West EDACS system Hillsborough County (EDACS) Trunking System, Hillsborough County, Florida - Scanner Frequencies

and the new P25 system
Hillsborough County (P25) Trunking System, Tampa, Florida - Scanner Frequencies

There seems to be partial overlap on users/agencies. Is one being phased out? I'm not able to pick up either from my home, but want to program one or both in my scanner. (SDS100) I'm guessing the P25 is where everyone will end up eventually.

Thanks

Nothing's changed since the last posts in this thread.

Only agencies on the P25 system are TTPD/TTFR, TPA PD, Tampa Parking Division, USFPD, James A Haley Hospital PD, and PCPD/PCFD.

HCSO hasn't run their tests in awhile.

Everyone else is still on EDACS. Doug keeps the database nice and updated to distinguish which agencies are on what system.

I drove through Tampa Monday night the West EDACS system was extremely quiet
at about 12:30am-ish I saw about 18-20 TPD cars running 10-18 down 20st. south of Hwy 60 never heard anything from any TPD channels.
If they're still on EDACS is it possible they switched to ENC

No TPD is 100% in the clear and still EDACS.

They communicate a lot via ProVoice as well. Your scanner would need to support ProVoice to hear all of their comms.

I was able to upgrade the firmware for free but I did do the research and found that ProVoice is a paid upgrade
if I lived in Tampa it would be worth the upgrade but I am not in Tampa that much
Thanks for the info

Yes. Any upgrades on Uniden scanners are unfortunately paid upgrades.

What do you mean by base frequency? If you mean the one the control channel is on, then they hop. It's best to have all the frequencies programmed in, and to not program both sites together since they are separate.

No to program a commercial radio you need the correct base frequency and channel spacing, Harris uses a different base frequency and channel spacing than Motorola.

I see some of the 15000 talkgroups were added to the DB recently. I had a feeling they were TPD but wasn't exactly sure, especially since they break the format of the rest of the system (i.e. not using the same TGIDs).

Are these different talkgroups than what's on EDACS?
