I see some of the 15000 talkgroups were added to the DB recently. I had a feeling they were TPD but wasn't exactly sure, especially since they break the format of the rest of the system (i.e. not using the same TGIDs).

Are these different talkgroups than what's on EDACS?
No the 15000 talkgroups are rebroadcast from the edacs system.

I was told the city of Tampa has P-25 radios and they have the capability of accessing Polk county channels if they need them.
Is the city of Tampa simulcasting some of its EDAC channels on Hillsborough P 25
Also, I'm curious why would the City of Tampa Purchase the Digital Edax radios instead of just using the Motorola P 25 radios

They’ve had the capability to talk to Polk for a while as does Hillsborough. They can also access some Manatee, Pasco, and Pinellas channels.

Yes, they are simulcasting or I think multicasting is more appropriate. Some units are on EDACS and some are on P25. Other than voice quality, it’s seamless. Traffic is passed between the systems.

The Hillsborough system is a Harris P25 system… Harris and Communications International would lose money if they were selling competitor equipment! The Motorola radios would also not work on EDACS… so either first responders would have to carry two radios during the transition period or “switch and pray.”

Should I be able to pick the Hillsborough P25 system from Zephyrhills?
I would say it depends on what type of antenna you have and how close you are to the county line. East site may come in from there, but probably not the West site. Have you tried locking onto the CCs to see if you get something?

Saw in the data base TFR has a dispatch talk group for the P25 system are they currently using this?
Its use has been on and off and multicast from EDACS. Right now, it's not in use.

I finally got both east and west working on my APX6000XE and APX8000HXE both sites are coming in crystal clear. I’m ready for whenever the switch takes place. However there will probably be new radios out by the time they get it together.
