Hillsborough P25 no reception

I live in Palm Harbor and have always been able to pick up the EDACS system, but am unable to receive the P25 system. Tried locking onto the West site, and sites 40/41... no luck. Is the transmission power/distance reduced on P25?

Not sure what your situation is, but just for reference I can receive the west site fairly well from Countryside. Don't even have to go upstairs.

Which scanner are you using? You may be experiencing simulcast distortion. If you attach your programming file, I will be happy to take a look at it and check for errors.

Also sounds like digital simulcast distortion to me. I receive P25 Site 1 well throughout Pinellas on an SDS-100 and G5.

Not true! The signal strength is the same. Digital audio will be clean as long as the receiver can differentiate between 0's and 1's. You basically receive it or you don't. You may be able to hear an analog signal that is very weak, but the audio will be very noisy.

I don't know what Site 41 is but Site 40 is primarily for aerial coverage and is not meant for ground use.

I can pick up Hillsborough P25 from my location at Pasco/Pinellas line. I am using SDS100, I have to use wide invert filter, mode set to FM seems to work a little better than NFM, remotronics 800mhz rubber duck antenna and squelch needs to be set to 1 or 0. I can only pick it up in certain locations in my house though. It is definitely not as easy as it is to pick up the EDACs system.

I pick up both Hillsbrough East and West from downtown Clearwater. Hell I even pick up Manatee from here. Sounds like a simulcast distortion. What kind of scanner?

Turned on my G5 last night with the new antenna on County P25 and saw Tampa P25 back on the system at night. Can someone tell me if they are running 24/7 now on P25 and should I put in the other FD talk groups besides Dist. 1? Thanks Ed
