Hillsborough Sheriff

I am currently scanning the primary channel for Hillsborough Sheriff. However, it always comes in choppy and cuts out randomly even though the signal appears good. This is the only frequency that does this and I scan several other p25 frequencies. Can anyone explain why this happens?

Sounds like you're having simulcast issues... more than one repeater transmitting the same signal. Take a look at the FCC license for Hillsborough, and I think you'll find that there are several voting simulcast repeaters for the Sheriff P25 freq.

I would try using a directional antenna, pointed at the closest repeater, and see if that clears things up. If it does, you've found your issue.
