Any word on whether the Hoboken Fire Department is still dispatched on 471.550 and Hoboken EMS on 471.525? I've been attempting to pick up both with no success. Other threads on this forum say that 471.525 has been dead for a while, but it's still listed as EMS D1 for some reason.
Any help y'all can provide is appreciated.

Fire is still being dispatched on 471.550 in the clear. For at least the past several years, EMS had been dispatched in the clear on whichever one of the two Hoboken PD 800 MHz frequencies that was assigned to radio motor patrol. When Hobken PD switched to fully encrypted on NJICS, EMS dispatch did so also.

So the only runs I'll be catching are fire, not EMS. Welp - thanks anyway..

Isn't there something on the DB about HPD being back on 800 MHz due to issues with NJICS?

The initial problems with coverage on NJICS were quickly resolved and they’ve permanently moved away from 800 mhz.

You can try to catch ALS runs in Hoboken by listening to whatever frequency the paramedics are being dispatched on.

The majority of Hoboken EMS calls are dispatched on the RWJ NJICS TG 4413, which also covers Jersey City. However, Hoboken also has their own volunteer EMS service, which handles several calls too.

471.525 is still up and active - mostly used for unit to unit communications and special events.

In your opinion, if I only have the means to scan VHF/UHF frequencies, would it be worth scanning 471.525 or is there a channel better suited to pick up EMS operations?

Hoboken EMS has long been dispatched by Hoboken Police. If Hoboken PD is using the trunk system then as other people pointed out your best bet is listening to RWJ or another EMS talkgroup to pickup when ALS is dispatched along with BLS. The only time you'll hear the ambulance get dispatched somewhere on 525 is if the police radio is super busy and the dispatcher calls them on that channel or there's some sort of special event going on. Other than that they are carrying the Hoboken PD radios which are encrypted as their primary means of dispatch.

Based on the above you'll have to make your own opinion on the value of scanning the channel.

Does McCabe no longer provide BLS to Hoboken? For the longest time they were the "backups" for the BLS Vollies but seemed to be the primary most days/nights. JCMC Obviously was always the ALS for Hudson County from their CN.
