danny, you have to do what sound's right for you, based on you're priorities of what you want to listen to. i keep all my hold time's at zero.i usually have almost everything on a 2 sec.scan delay.i do keep my local police on hold time zero, with a zero second scan delay, because they never shut up.

I have Burlington set at the default of 2, but using 0 will make the scanner move through all the sites faster.

yup, that's part of the problem.my local pd is the only pd that i have any real interest in listening to..they yack so much that it can drive you crazy.you should here them on a hot fri or sat.night !.sometime's you have to get thru 100 motor vehicle stop's before you hear a "hot call".but try to lock them out,and something big happen's.then you kick yourself for missing it. if i'm using portable's,i'll usually leavfe one doing local stuff, and my local pd.the other one does njsp aviation only.sometime's i'll have another doing close call only.
