If I program an EDACS trs with a hold time of 0 and have wildcards set, will the scanner check all the wildcard combos before it moves on to the next system?

If so, which is quicker, wildcards or ID search mode?

Neither. It will dwell on the system 1-2 seconds regardless, as this is how long it takes the system to transmit one cycle of channel grants/updates.

I have never understood how Uniden scanners handle EDACS systems. On my local EDACS there is often a loud grinding noise at the beginning or end of a transmission, lasting about 1-2 seconds. I'm using an HP-2. I have never had this problem on any of my Radio Shack scanners or even older model Uniden scanners.

Thanks

If I programmed wildcards along with hold setting of zero on my 996XT / 396XT , it appeared to dwell longer on the EDACS.
