Anyone here ever try to use a Holland Electronics LA520, 50 MHz to 2150 MHz for a scanner. The amp requires an inline power supply PS10. Not sure if I want to use this amp on a scanner.
The noise figure of 5dB is pretty bad. But I have used similar amplifiers and when used at the antenna it will match the fluctuating impedance of the antenna to a constant impedance to the coax and have always made an improvement. Lower noise amplifiers are even better. I use amplifiers from GPIO Labs that works very well at a low cost.
Have found Holland Electronics a tad bit diffcult to get a response from. They sell what appears to be a nice little amplifier but no longer sell the in line power supply. Will take your suggestion re GPIO Labs.
