Holmes Gulch Fire (Helena -South Hills)
Started by Lightning around 1330 this afternoon
In the area of Holmes Gulch and Martinez? Gulch Road.
Jefferson County, Lewis and Clark County, Helena FD, Montana City FD, DNRC and USFS all threw lots of assets at this fire along with aircraft.
Aircraft involved were:
Air attack, and a Lead 14, several rotary wing (helos) and fixed wing aircraft.
4 rotary wing aircraft doing bucket drops
several fixed wing aircraft doing retardant drops, BAE 146 and the DC-10 (N911H) {911 Heavy} [VLAT]
"Very Large Air Tanker" dropping 13,500 gallons of retardant.
several S.E.A.T.S. (single engine air tankers)
Air activity on:
124.975 am for air to air
151.22 for air to ground
Most of the local Fire Department on the Montana State trunked system or VHF freqs
As of 1900 hours some assets being released from staging.
Updates as I hear them.
