Man Kidnaps Couple, Then Kills Self

Utica -- More details are coming to light about the home invasion in Rochester Hills that ended with suspect taking his own life.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Department says 34-year-old Teodore Campan entered the Rochester Hills' apartment of his 41-year old ex-girlfriend and the 62-year old man she now lives with. Police say Campan entered the home, bound them with duct tape, and drove them to a location in Utica, where the victims said that Campan shot himself in the head with a handgun that he had taken from their home. He was pronounced dead at St Joseph Hospital in Clinton Township.
Campan was arrested in 2005 for breaking into that same Rochester Hills apartment, but the charges were dropped when she failed to show up at court. At the time, Campan was awaiting deportation back to Romania, where he and the two home invasion victims are from. Campan was deported to Romania the following year, but was allowed into Canada with refugee status. It's not known how or when he returned to the United States.
