If your Internet Service Provider is a satellite based provider such as HughesNet, they have been a constant problem for other members as well with the “timeout” error. Check this link:

The Home Patrol uses FTP transfers for updates, some ISPs (especially satellite based) have a high latency time with FTP transfers, or they block it completely (mainly port 21). It may also be your virus software or your firewall settings.

I have been using the same system for at least 10 years and yesterday it wouldn't let me update the database on my homepatrol
Do you think it might help to redownload the sentinel program again?

i have hughes net and they are a pain in the ass. I just use my phone 's hotspot feature and there is no more issues.

joebearcat posted last night the servers would be doing rolling upgrades with intermittent connection issues. wonder if that is your issue.
