Hello to all,
On my favorites list, will 2 of the same channels cancel each other. Sometimes I can receive it and other times I cannot.
Also, though I change and append new names to my Favorites, I also delete old ones. But they still show up on my HP1. Why?

Make sure you use the option to erase all favorites lists on the HP1 when you write your favorites lists to the radio. (It is one of the check boxes)

It will clear out what is on the radio and give you a clean write of your lists. Otherwise it leaves stuff, sometimes duplicates, on the radio card.

They won't cancel each other out, but they scan less efficiently and are confusing.

Yes. It will match what is in the radio with what is in Sentinel. It gives you a clean copy of your Sentinel favorites lists being transferred and clears everything before the copy. I always do it in Sentinel and Freescan, which does something similar and has a similar option.

Not doing this causes an append sort of action to take place during the transfer with the results you see. It sort of reads a modified favorites list as a new one, putting the second one in the radio as a new one.

Thanks Mark! I'll do that. I was not picking any MB police or fire, but I hit auto locate and it worked. Why? I do not begin to know.

Auto locate had nothing to do with solving your problem, unless you are using location control in your favorites lists and don't have the radio connected to gps or set to zip code area.

Thanks Mark. I don't remember at this time, but I'll remember that. I guess that just tells you where you are without setting favorites. BTW, just read today that our local PD has asked for the money to move to encryption. Great!

Autolocate does a generic search across everything it knows from the database, and by hearing certain systems, makes a general guess as to where it is.

Entering a zip code will be much quicker and a lot more accurate in the absence of a GPS.

GPS is the most accurate.
