There have been no recent updates for the HP-1.
The last firmware update available through Sentinel for the HP-1 (2.06.06) was released over 3 years ago.
The last firmware beta release (manually installed download) for the HP-1 (2.06.08 ) was released about 5 years ago.

More like there will be no more upgrades beyond what it was originally designed to do.

they are changing a lot in our area agency's going to dmr and going awin etc

Do you mean Firmware or Database?
Looks like everyone has assumed Firmware. Database updates are same as always, every week.
Uniden has gone just about as far as they can, considering the circuitry inside. It still does everything they said it would do.. Electronically, the HP1 can't handle much of the radio technology being used. The only way to improve it would be a new radio. Wait!! They did that: HP2, 436 and SDS100.
