Data base could not be read. Sentinel Installation might be corrupted. Please reinstall HomePatrol Sentinel. Next line says: Could not find part of a path D:\HomePatrolSentinel\Profie\Stv. I have deleted Sentinel software and reinstalled. When I try to set up and rerun the software, the d path error comes up and won't do any more. I have connected the home patrol 2 to the pc and it will not recognize the drive is connected. I ran an update about 2 weeks ago added a couple channels and no issues. I was attempting to add a new channel when this error came up. I am running windows 11 and up until the day before yesterday I had no issues. Stumped.

Do you have the HomePatrol Sentinel with the orange icon? There is a separate Sentinel with a green icon for the BCDx36HP and SDS scanners.

Could possibly be older serial drivers. If the above is indeed the correct version of Sentinel, try the following:

Steps to Remove Old/Uniden USB/Serial DriversFollow these carefully. This cleans up hidden/ghosted devices without harming your system.
  1. Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager (key for seeing old ghosts):
    • Right-click Start > Device Manager.
    • Click View menu at the top > Check Show hidden devices. (Ghosted/old entries appear faded/transparent.)
  2. Uninstall Any Uniden/Scanner-Related Entries:
    • Expand these sections and look for anything like:
      • Universal Serial Bus controllers → "USB Mass Storage Device", "Uniden", "Unknown device", or faded entries with yellow ! or ghost icons.
      • Disk drives → Anything like "SDHC Disk", "Removable Disk", or scanner-named entries.
      • Ports (COM & LPT) → Old "Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge" or "Uniden Serial" (this is the serial driver for some modes).
      • Other devices or Universal Serial Bus devices → "Unknown device" or scanner-related.
    • For each suspicious/old/faded entry:
      • Right-click > Uninstall device.
      • If prompted, check Delete the driver software for this device (or similar wording—this removes the package).
      • Confirm and let it finish.
  3. Scan for Hardware Changes to Refresh:
    • After uninstalling, in Device Manager: Click Action menu > Scan for hardware changes.
    • Disconnect the scanner if connected, wait 10 seconds, reconnect in Mass Storage mode (as before: Power off > Connect USB > Power on > Menu > USB Mode > Mass Storage).
