Does any one in the Toms River area have the new cable to program the Home Patrol 2, my cable has the PL-2303 XA / HXA chip and I cant get it to program the scanner. Get a message that its been out dated for a while. If you have one I'd like to buy it if you don't use it anymore.

It's just a plain old usb mini. Any gas station,Walmart etc, should have one.

Tried that connector doesn't fit into scanner, plus the cable I believe has a chip in it, that’s what’s outdated. I think I need the newer version of the cable with the newer chip

You need one with no chip - fwiw, never seen a mico or mini with a chip. There are some that are charge-only and will not transfer data.

I believe the chip is in the black box on the cable, been out of scanning for some time… trying to get back into it. lol

Be sure the cable you use has data capabilities. Some are charge only.

It’s been a while since I fooled with scanners. I updated the prolific driver, but maybe I need to go back to an older version That will work with windows 10, when I used to program the home patrol 2 I used a windows XP computer. I guess I’ll just have to keep trying things.

That looks like iyt has that plug they use for the GPS, not the USB - but whatever should be no chip. Might be a choke.

Standard USB-mini, all 4 wires straight through. There is no chip needed as it's not a serial port. You're trying to plug into the GPS port and instead you need to program though the USB port.

The plug on that cable appears that it may be a Hirose connector for programming Uniden DMA scanners such as BCT15X, BCD396T, BCD996T, BCD396XT, and BCD996XT. The black box on the cable is a USB to serial converter. It will not fit in a USB connector.
