My Home Patrol 1 has lost audio through the speaker - headphone jack works fine.

Anyone else with the same problem?

Any DIY suggestions for a fix?

It's out of warranty, so aside from the wait on Uniden's repair there is also the cost to consider.

Sometimes the jack itself is broken. They can wear out if you use them frequently. The switch thinks the headphones are still plugged in. You can tinker around with bending the internals of the headphone jack to fix, but you may just as well put in a new one if that's what you figure is wrong...

on my 396t

same problem for years
i fix it with the end of a shoelace
in and out a couple of times
the other way might be to use computer speakers.

Never used headphone jack, wearing it out isn't likely :) , but thanks for the suggestion

next

i guess we were hoping it was the jack because
the next option is that the speaker is blown
or worse the audio amp for the speaker is fried
another hope is for a loose wire
good luck

sounds like another quality issue with the HP-1.
And I am not a fan of the HP-1 after the issues I have had.
Out of warranty you are screwed as far as unicrap is concerned.
With GRE gone we will be in the dark about tax paid government comms, if unicrap keeps producing radios that don't work.

How is that any different from any other device you buy? Warranties begin and warranties end, after it ends the device is no longer covered. Are you saying you weren't aware that the warranty ended at some point? Are your car repairs covered under warranty after it expires? TV? Computer? Anything?
