Respectfully: To my knowledge FPS has NO Air Assets of its own and never has. Please advise a tail number if this is not so. Finding your FPS Air assertion intriguing , I have searched the OPM archive materiel for pilot openings with FPS and have not found any- not even archived/closed recruitment's.
Conversely, CBP has plenty of openings and there are archived announcements for USBP and Customs but not one that I could locate for FPS Pilot back to 1985. Perhaps a defect in my research & I am interested to learn this.
The FPS have always been responsible for the physical federal buildings out to the public sidewalk and that is about it. Largely perceived as 'Door Shakers' some might say- no offense intended. They have a slightly expanded mission within ICE now but no real operational changes noticeable day-to-day and no air mission anywhere that I am aware of.
It is my belief that all Air Assets that were formally US Customs and US Border Patrol legacy owned/operated aircraft and now belong to and are flown by the CBP Air & Marine Operations Branch which is a standalone sub-office within CBP.
AMO is part of CBP but not part of ICE-FPS or the Border Patrol. The AMO is standalone under CBP and not part of any other sub-agency. Confusing but true. There is a good thread here about that:
Best,
