I want to construct a beam antenna in an attempt to improve my reception of NYC Police/Fire. I am approximately 40 miles southwest of NYC and at night I can pickup intermittent radio traffic from various sections of the city, using an OmniX verticle. They operate between 470 and 490 MHZ. I believe that a beam, pointed in the direction NYC, will help clean up the signal. I also want to try my hands at making my own antennas.
