For Windows 7, copy the Hp1WinVistaCom.inf file to the c:/windows/system32/drivers directory. When you select serial mode for the first time, Windows will find and install the driver.
When using serial mode, your HomePatrol-1 is assigned a com port number. The assigned com port can differ, depending on which USB port you have connected the USB cable to.

The question is when are those of us that have already paid for the privilege to unwittingly be beta testers going to get actual fully functional, as advertised, upgrades.

At 50% off normal price, I'll beta test the Extreme upgrade.

I can only find a few bugs in the Extreme Upgrade. None of these bugs prevent myself from using 95% of the Exteme features.

One minor bug that disappeared after a complete reboot (power off, remove batteries), was in the limit search there was no back button (the left arrow key- to the right of the zero(0) key). Once I did a reboot, the left arrow appeared.

For the first release of Extreme Upgrade, I think Uniden did a fine job.

What kills me is how many people cry and never consider the amount of work involved in developing a product, hell i had an HP-1 Break and bought a new one (Don't ask why i didn't return it) so i had the $49.99 upgrade then the unit took a nose dive the day after the update grr, am i on here crying, no
i bought a new unit and upgrade, ill learn next time.
just kills me how nitpicky people will be and cry if they forget to read and keep up.

i beta test for a well known map company doing truck GPS, worked the truck show in Dallas this weekend and just cant believe people cry so much, you offer them a solution including replacing the unit and they still are not happy, i was really shaking my head at this one guy who came up and we offered to replace it, and he was still not happy and trying to make me feel like it was my fault he wasn't happy with his life

In these cases Ron WHite and Bill Engvall are my heros

Bummer.
Maybe then they should take down the talk of $49.99 located here

Extreme Things Coming

Xray:I guess you haven't looked at that blog, today.
Why would you alter a web log (BLOG) because someone doesn't understand how the Internet works? This is exactly why we don't allow folks to edit posts after a short amount of time here; you can't change history. A BLOG should stay as it was when it was published.

Well, yeah. Say, where's your sign?

Because things change, and someone reading an old Blog can be confused by references to things as being in the future that have already happened. However, all changes can (and should be, and in this case are) clearly differentiated from the original Blog entry so that it is easy for someone viewing it again to see where changes have been made.

Anyone having luck about recreating the RoD (Reboot of Death, as coined by wise871) on Conventional Discovery mode?

I was using CD last night and didn't have CoD.

I have a hypothesis, but not enough time to test it out right now... I don't think it has anything to do with any of the radio settings. I think it has to do with the state of the audio recording.

During my successful session, I happened to be somewhere where none of the hits had substantial record time associated with it. I'm wondering if there is an issue when one or more of the hits has maxed out its record time?

I'm going to try a test with a constant carrier signal and see if that triggers it...

We've confirmed this issue and are working on a release to take care of it and a few other highly requested tweaks.

Thats great news. Thanks and looking forward to the update. Since updating the HP-1 I've been neglecting my other radios :( as I mess around with the new features. Each day I learn something new and I'm just blown way on what has been added so far.

Hi Sheldon!
1: Did you get the USB serial drivers copied to the right place?
2: If you got them copied there, did you then plug the HP1 cable in after that? .I f you had it plugged in before, in Mass Storage mode, you have to unplug it, plug it back in and answer the question on the HP1 screen, select "serial port"
3: Once you've done that, you're computer should have gone through new hardware discovery and installed the USB Serial driver...
4: Once the USB Serial driver is installed, you should be able to start Arc Patrol up, start the virtual scanner up and select the serial port in the lower left hand corner....

Tell us what point you are having problems with and we'll work on that.....

Off in a far away place, far from u.......
We've confirmed this issue and are working on a release to take care of it and a few other highly requested tweaks.

I hope some of the other tweaks might include the Priority channel setting for our own favorite channels to be heard while scanning either in our favorite's list or while scanning the database or both.

Maybe we could get a 10, 15 or 20 second time out (unlike the 2 or 5 sec we have now) on channels transmissions during the Conventional discovery mode to allow for longer channel pauses while scanning through set freq's.

Maybe even a hold button while in conventional/ trunking discovery modes to hold on a channel for a little while to monitor what is going on on that one channel?

And last but not least, I seem to be the only one looking for this so it just might not happen, but I would like to have a way to enter digital and analog frequencies in the HomePatrol-1 by doing so on the screen of the unit and while doing so, would like to make and or store those entered freq's in either a current or new favorites list.

I see no use for the option to just enter analog frequencies into a DIGITAL and ANALOG scanner, along with not being able to program those frequencies into our favorites list!! Just saying!

other than that, I have been very happy with the upgrade, and even in the future when I get a couple more scanners, I will be purchasing the upgrade for them. this will not happen until the next generation scanners come out though.

Thank you Upman and Uniden once again, GREAT JOB!!!

Dafe.

Se, I had to go into device manager and found the device with a ? on it. Be sure hp is connected to computer and in serial mode. From device manager click on browse with the device with a ? on it. From there browse to the folder where you placed the driver and click update driver.
