I recently purchased a HOMEPATROL-1 and had a question. Ok, Is there a way to edit a channel? I'm trying to edit my local Springfield, MA PD and FD to the digital info but for some reason the option to do so isn't usuable. The option is there, but not clickable. I connected the unit to my PC and downloaded sentinel, upgraded to the newest firmware {2.05} and tried to download the frequency info from RR's database but it said that I needed a premier status to do so. I also tried looking up on how to get the extreme upgrade to see if that would help but I couldn't find the info to purchase it. Please help! :)

All the info you need for the Extreme Upgrade is at this link on Uniden's site, it tells you exactly what it does, where to get it, how much it costs, and how to activate it on your home patrol. The Extreme Upgrade is not needed for editing through the Sentinel software

As far as editing channels, set up a favorites list using the Sentinel software, and by using the favorites list editor in Sentinel, you can add and edit what ever you wish.

You don't need a premium subscription from Radio Reference to use the database. What ever frequencies and agencies are in the Radio Reference database, and are monitorable by the Home Patrol, are already in the Sentinel master database.... and that database is updated every week directly from the Radio Reference database.

Thanx for the info about the extreme update. I'll look into it. About using sentinal for editing, is there a way to do it without using sentinal? ☺

You cannot edit directly on the scanner itself unless you purchase the Extreme Upgrade. However, you can edit, or append systems from the RR database, using Sentinel on your pc, then write the changes to the scanner.

Sentinel is also necessary to get the weekly database updates to the RadioReference database.
