Did you do a shut down and cold startup after the uninstall? (not restart)

It sounds like something corrupted the registry entry.

Next thing to try after uninstall is to run Regedit from a command prompt and remove the Sentinel information manually. DO NOT TRY THIS IF YOU ARE A NOVICE!!!! You can seriously screw up the entire computer if you made a boo boo!

Cold start again, then reinstall Sentinel directly from the HP-1 website, just in case your local install file is corrupted.

I just got a new Dell laptop with Windows 8. I HATE IT ! They would not even allow me to pay extra to have XP Pro installed and Windows 8 removed.

@jkhan:

Windows 8 out already hell i was just getting use to hearing about Win 7 :p i'm a Windows Xp'er my self it's old and Jossile like me but that's Awful you couldn't get a different platform on that Laptop).

What about trying Windows 7 would they at least let you do that maybe it would be at least better than that of 8

I'd think a Computer store could Load it on there for Ya.. you might try that. Ra :)

Computers that are preloaded with W7 or W8 are incapable of running XP and earlier versions properly. Apparently the latest Windows versions require BIOS changes.

I did a search of the registry, and removed any reference to Sentinel and Uniden..still same problem..I ended up re-installing Windows 7 Pro X64 and is now ok...I think that last Update from Microsoft for .NET 4.5 is what broke it..so I have hidden any new .net updates for now

@ lost

Them .net updates can be a pain in the butt at times i usually wait a while before updating)

A good source to to go and find out when to update the .Nets and other Microsoft stuff is Ask Woody.com i go there Quite often and Woody will if you Have a Question when he can (he's quite the busy person) answer it if there's an answerable answer. You can also look up through his Website a good mess of stuff on Microsoft
.. Give it a look Ra
