I don't believe there is a TGID limit on the HP-1. E.g., the Ohio MARCS system has over 176 sites and 1600 TGIDs.

There is no real memory limit in the HP-1. All the data, including the entire Nationwide database derived from the RadioReference DB is store on the HP-1 microSD card.

There is a practical limit on the number of "channels" (Conventional/Trunk) that can be monitored. If the # is very large, the cycle time will not be very acceptable.

True, but for many of those TGID there are multiple Unit ID's. Curiou if there is a limit also.

I don't believe there is any limit. You can have the HP-1 display all Unit IDs if available (one of the display modes). In Favorites lists, you can also add Alpha Tags and Alerts for specific UIDs. There doesn't appear to be a limit to the number of UIDs that can be tagged. I didn't find one listed in the manual, and when I looked at Favorites Lists editing in the Sentinel software, it appears I can add any number UID tags.

Hope that helps.

You might also find it useful to download the Sentinel software from HomePatrol (under Support menu). You don't need to own the HP-1 to download and run it. You can then explore the data base and some of the features of the HP-1.

IIRC, the limit is either 1 or 2 megabytes of system information (in either case, more than you would every possibly have).

Who is this addressed to? I think all of the posters in this thread already have a HP-1.

As far as I can tell you will not see anything in Sentinel regarding Unit ID's UNTIL you save/edit/alpha tag one in the HP and then read it back into Sentinel.

It wasn't clear from the earlier messages that you currently own an HP-1. Many potential owners will read the forums on RR and post questions before making the decision to buy. I merely wished to point out that the HP-1 software is available to download and explore before purchasing the hardware. Clearly it is of limited value because you won't be able read/write to an actual HP-1, but it can help a potential owner learn about what it takes to operate/program the HP-1.

For example, you can create a test Favorites List, append a system from the HPDB to that list, edit the system and add alpha tags to dummy UIDs , all using the Sentinel software. You never need to read/write to the HP-1 hardware. That's what I did before stating that there was no apparent limit to the number of UIDs.

Not true. The Unit IDs tab is always visible when you edit a trunked system (except for LTR) on a favorites list in Sentinel. It has nothing to do with adding to/downloading from the HP-1 first.

Maybe I need to add a sig line :)

Know anyway to log via discovery or activity log to get a list of ID's?

I don't know how you can do it via discovery or activity log, but if you run Butel's ARC PATROL software in virtual control mode, it does include UIDs in its log.

I did a quick test using a Trunk Discovery mode on a local system. If you view the log (either on the HP-1E, or after importing the logs via Sentinel software), UIDs are shown if you display detailed data.
