I have waited awhile to post this but I think Homewood police and fire no longer operate on the 460.125, and 460.625 frequencies, I have heard the Police get dispatched on the Jefferson County Public Safety System (trunked 800 system) and heard the Fire department migrate to a different dispatch system ( more of a two-tone system ) before the conventional frequency went off the air, I also believe the police back-up frequency is off the air as well. I guess they are shifting to the Alabama first responder network too. I guess they need to be taken off the radio reference database now...and keep a ear out for their fire dispatch TGID as well!

I have been listening to Homewood quite frequently and they have just dropped off the conventional. I noticed a change in the broadcast a while back and was wondering if they were...interesting now they have switched. You have the new trunk frequencies you heard them on?

No, they are no longer active. There is no radio traffic on those frequencies any more and the repeaters are off the air.

I also have them programed in my scanner , a Radio Shack Pro 651, maybe they will work in it.

Only if you have the Jefferson County Public Services Trunking System in your radio,
Homewood Police's Dispatch is Talkgroup ID: 42608

Hello and TNX for the information. I have them in my scanner but I guess I will have to go ahead and remove them from my Ham Radio rigs.
Thats a shame , it was always so easy to pick up there signals.
TNX again.

Would you happen to know some Police or Fire services that are still on analog in the Jefferson or Shelby County area ????

any dual band ham radio rig or uhf rig will pick up vhf and uhf freqs.
as for 800 they will not track the 800 system. also bear in mind homewood is p-25 digital.
they are using the jefferson county trunked 800 system. only a p-25 digital scanner will work.
i have no idea what them freqs are for home wood are. because the are using the county 800 system.
also the only clear things you will here are dispatch only. all other traffic is encyp.

Vestaiva is also trunked on the same system. Hoover is making plans to switch over to the statewide system.

i have the fire id give me some time and i will post the fire id. i am recovering from some heart issues.

they are not frequencies. they are talk group ids that go in a digital p-25 scanner.
unless you have a p-25 digital scanner they are not going to work.
