Hi I hav a '97 Honda CRV and would like to install my BC780XLT scanner but cant find a place to mount it? I would like to mount it on the center console bwlow radio but I dont know if it will fit if I remove my AM/FM radio and replace it with scanner and possibly a new samller FM CD radio above that ??? Or can I mount it on floor in some sort of bracket?

If anyone has done an install in a CRV please let me know as Im limited on my mounting options!

Thanks!!

CRV Help

Hello, I have a 03 Honda CRV. I am not sure how your model looks inside but I have a cup holder directly below my radio and air conditioning console in the middle of the dash. I drilled a couple holes into the cup holder and hooked my scanner bracket to it and then just put the scanner into the bracket. Of course you do not have use of the cup holders or of a change compartment below the cupholders. But I guess some sacrificies are worth it.

Just as another option for the 780. There is a remote head kit available from scannermaster. It will cost you just about what the scanner did but if you are really space constrained and have the money it might be an option..

I have a 01 CRV. I went to Honda and bought a second insert where the radio/AC controls sit. I used a dremel tool and shaved the bottom part where the box sat under the AM/FM radio. It was about 1/4" to small on the bottom to fit the 780. I took out the screws that held the case together in the front of the 780 and used some metal straps I got at Home depot along with longer screws to secure it. I also drilled a new hole on each side of the brackets that held the AM/FM stereo to the plastic bracket. It worked great and looked awesome. I would take a pic, but I replaced the 780 with a new 2096. Make sure you run an external speaker and hook up a 9-pin serial cable so you can program the radio once it’s in the dash.
