By Honey Brook Fire Company October 1, 2010 Early Friday morning at 0450 hours, Honey Brook Volunteers, along with Wagontown Fire Company(35) and Brandywine Paramedics (Medic 93) were alerted for a water rescue at Birdell Road and Beaver Dam Road. Assistant 33 (Klinger) responded and was advised by Chester County Fire Radio of a vehicle into the water with the subject on the roof waiting to be rescued. Assistant 33 arrived to confirm the report, Honey Brook crews staged on the North side of the intersection while Wagontown crews with their boat deployed from the south end. The subject was removed from his vehicle safely and returned home.

As crews were then clearing the firehouse to return home and to work another call came in for a stranded motorist in water on Park Road just south of Cambridge Road. Assistant 33 responded due to being nearby and found a subject sitting in his vehicle after it had stalled when entering the water. Honey Brook crews arrived and led by Chief Messner retrieved the subject from the vehicle prior to Boat 35 arriving.

Around 0815 hours crews were again alerted for Beaver Dam Road and S. Birdell Road for another subject trapped in the vehicle. This subject was removed prior to Boat 35's arrival.

The Honey Brook Fire Company would like to remind the public DO NOT drive into ANY water on the roadway. Several inches of moving water is powerful enough to stop and move a vehicle down stream. Units: Rescue 33; Amb33-2 Mutual Aid: Squad 35; Boat 35; Med93;
Flooded intersection as first units arrived. Medic 93 on the south side, you can see the vehicle in the water. Rescue 33 staged. Crews watching Boat 35 deploy. Looking East on Beaver Damn Road. Notice the depth of the water at the stop sign. Subect being walked ashore. Second Water Rescue subject walked out with Rescue crews assistance. Chief Messner wants to remind you to avoid driving in water covered roads.
