By Honey Brook Fire Company November 30, 2010 On Tuesday morning, the Honey Brook Fire Company and Brandywine Medics were dispatched to Route 10 in the area of Reservior Road for an automobile accident with entrapment. 33-20 (Mellinger) arrived on location and reported a 2 vehicle accident with 1 driver trapped and assumed the Route 10 Command. Ambulances 33-1 and 33-2 arrived next and began patient care as there were 6 patients and a dog. Rescue 33 arrived and began the extrication process on the trapped driver. Crews stabilized the vehicle with wooden cribbing and used the "Jaws of Life" and O cutter to pop open the driver's door and remove some vehicle structure to facilitate patient removal. Engine 33-1 arrived and assisted with hazard control during the extrication. Honey Brook and Twin Valley fire police closed down Route 10 for the duration of the incident. One patient was extricated in 19 minutes from time of dispatch and was transported to a local hospital and 5 patients and the dog fortunately were not injured.
