Thought i would bump an old thread.
I was out at Lake Grandbury for about 4 hours this past weekend and heard Pelican Bay security and Hood County Fire and that was it.
I believe Grandbury is ENC but is Sheriff still on VHF or have they moved to 700 as another thread has mentioned.
Ill be back there in a few weeks and already plugged in the two 700 channels in my BCD436.
But in the mean time wondering if a local out there has some insight.

Thanks in advance.

I see two new 700 mhz transmitter in the FCC info. They appear to be non-trunked, P25 repeaters. I was in Granbury a week ago and heard no SO traffic, as well. Please check out ;

HOOD, COUNTY OF WQZJ467 771.25625 1 0 FB2 SG GRANBURY HOOD TX

SG -- Conventional Public Safety 700MHz

Thanks,
Russell

I've had those two 700MHz frequencies programmed in a couple of scanners since shortly after the license was issued back in 2017. While Hood is out of range from home, I am quite often in the county for several hours at a time, and within range when traveling to and from Stephens County. While spending the day in Stephens, I can hear their Vhf frequencies. So far, I have yet to hear anything on either of the 700MHz assignments, whether in the county, or at least in range.

I'll be down that way again in a couple of weeks; a close friend wants to go to the hand crafted cheese place in Lipan, then we'll grab lunch either in Granbury or at a burger joint in Bluffdale. I'll take an extra scanner & park it on only Hood County, and see what might come up.

To heck with Hood County, I want to hear more about this hand crafted cheese place. :p

Forget Grumps. Tried it, not impressed.
Jasper's down the road in Bluff Dale is much better.

What are the chances Hood SO and Granbury PD consolidated their Dispatch on the now encrypted 453.7?

Spent about half the day in, and within range of, Hood County today.

I was hearing non-encrypted transmissions on the listed 158.7675 S.O. Dispatch.

However, there were 15 transmissions recorded on 158.7675, but almost 90 on 769.75625. all encrypted.
About 12:08pm, the dispatcher called a unit and said "SO Secure", which was acknowledged. There were no other transmissions for the SO for almost an hour on Vhf, but 23 encrypted conversations on 769.75625.
The NAC in use is 400.

There were some radio IDs that appeared on both the Vhf & 700Mhz frequencies, but it appears that several are set up as using a 1 for both radio ID as well as a "talkgroup".

Thanks Tom

Makes me wonder why Pecan Plantation VFD felt the need to get a 700MHz channel.

I guess the S.O. adding the location in Glen Rose must be for coverage in some areas of Hood County.
