HOORAW New Pro-2096 Now Im Lost

Hello all I live in Berkeley County WV and have been wanting the Pro-2096 for quite a while now and today finally got one. Its setting here looking at me all pretty and all and stupid me dont have a clue on what to do. Can someone please help? I know someone told me that this county was on something 25 (see how stupid I am) and I have also went to other web pages on telling you this and that about the 2096 and Im just at a loss it dont want to sink in or something. I also have the computer cable for it for what that does I havent a clue either. Can someone please help this moron I just cant get the info to sink in and understand how to program it. Thanks fellows for putting up with this hillbilly.

fist, I would check out the database and see what's active. I would then maybe read the manual for the scanner and check out the forums for RS scanners. maybe someone that has a pro-96 or pro-2096 could help you more. they may be able to email or post some configuration files to get you set up quickly. I have a uniden 396t so as far as the scanner itself, I can't help you.

Get Win 96 for your PC. Look in the wiki (here) for radioshack, there is a link somewhere in there. That will make your life much easier. Good Luck.

Thanks fellows really appreciate your help. My main problem is I have to find someone in this area to give me some pointers on this model scanner. In other words I have read and re-read and read again the manual and I still cant figure out how to manually program a freq into it. I see new freqs someone will post on here and I dont have a clue on what button to press. One really nice fellow on here did send me a .jpg of a lot of things in Berkeley County and he sent the .jpg of it on his Win-96 program. And just told me to copy certain things into my Win-96 program and now I can finally hear some of the locals on it. Now Im afraid to touch a button afraid of losing what I have. Im trying to get the State Police in it and Im lost. Thanks again for your help.

If you are using Win96 to enter what the other guy sent you, then use Win96 to make the other entries as well. Go up to the Radio Shack forum and look for a response to one of my questions from fmon...he had the details there for entering the WV Interop tables to get that working well.
I never want to use direct keyboard entry anymore now that I have Win96! I just makes life so much easier. Besides most of the stuff in Berkeley County is on the trunked statewide system anyway.

Thank you wb8oif, Im going to go search for it now. Im starting to learn the Win-96 program a little and love it. Your definately right it makes life a whole lot easier. Im soon going to send Don the 30 dollars for the key because his software is great. Thanks again and have a good day.
