The most logical reason is their is a Lafayette Trooper up in the Gary area for business or training in his state commission and has his radio on ISP 14 DISPATCH pulling that talkgroup unto the Lake County site

Possible I guess, seems to me there is more to it. I am picking it up everyday now. I hear traffic stops and all other dispatch it seems.

You might have troopers on vacation and some higher ups in Dist 14 are covering the area for them...Troopers that travel to other districts love to still hear what they are missing in their home district... we get ISP 52 Dispatch here in Terre Haute, off and on all the time...Come to find out, their is a Indy trooper that comes to see family here all the time and his radio is set to his home dispatch

So if there is a trooper up in this area from Dist 14, not even transmitting, just having their radio on. I would still pick up activity going on in Lafayette? This all just started in the past month or so, the TG has been in my radio for years, it never picked up anything from Dist 14. I don't know enough of how the SAFE-T system works so it just seems unusual to me.

pretty much that is the only way dist 14 would be that far north

I hear Lafayette Post District 14 Radio all the time on Boone County Safe-t talkgroup 12432. I sometimes get ISP 14 OPS 1 as well.

Tim, you need to stop, you know how safe-t works and Boone County boarders dist 14, he is talking about Lake county which is no where near district 14

OK for the newbies: Some Wide Area Trunking 101-
Any radio that affiliates with the site your monitoring will allow you to hear ALL Talk Groups that are programmed into that radio's code plug. For example, an ISP high ranking officer happens to get assigned, or goes for some reason to an area near the site your listening to. As long as his radio is affiliated to that site, you will hear traffic on any of the TG's in his radio when there is activity on them. Lets say his home area is D-52, but he is assigned to D-14 for some reason. He switches his radio to the D-14 TG's to talk with Dispatch, and the troopers, as well as operate on any of the OPS TG's. His radio still has the D-52 TG's in it, and now you can hear those as long as he is on that site.

Ok thank you all for helping me understand how this system works. I could not figure out how I could be getting Dist 14. At first I though it had something to do with Dist 13, as I thought I was hearing the same dispatchers on 13 and 14. I thought maybe they consolidated something or there was some type of system change. Just seems weird that it all just started within the past couple months after years of being quiet. I know periodically I get wildcard hits of stuff not around Lake County, but Lafayette coming in daily now had me baffled.

Not all talkgroups will work statewide as milf describes. For example, if I get about three counties away from my home county, I get bonked on my county's TGs even though other TGs such as the SW-MA TGs still work. I believe the ISP TGs are set up in the system to work statewide.

Correct. There are five or six sites I can connect to in my area and still use my local talkgroups. The talkgroups have to be programmed on the tower sites in order to work. I'm not sure all the ISP talkgroups are statewide. I have tried my area Districts 42/45 in other parts of the state and they wouldn't work. But that was awhile back things may have changed since then.

Currently, all ISP TG's except for the ILEA ones will function on all sites. Once the P25 is done, it will be even more so. Only the Site/Zone locked TG's will not work anywhere else. IDHS, and SWMA's... and such are statewide by nature. The new Regional Event ones will only work in the Region they are assigned in.

On the P25... ALL Tg's that are not Site/Zone Locked will function anywhere in the state. Not to mention the amazing patching and ISSI capabilities that will function.

On Monday 3/14/16 around 3:00PM I heard ISP District 34 Jasper post on ISP DIST 35 Ops 3( Talkgroup 20608) putting out a officer safety dispatch. This was heard thru the Hendricks county simulcast site .Dispatch was about a person that was armed and was wanted by Tell City PD and Perry County Sheriff about a homicide in Tell City that occurred on Monday 3/14/16.

This is connectivity between the various remote sites and the zone controller? Isn't there already a connection with the existing system? Or is the p25 system requiring more capacity (bandwidth) than what's available with the existing circuits?

Just curious,
Thanks.

Oh, and this delay you speak of, does this mean they aren't doing the conversion next week, now?

Apparently, the problem involves the testing of the circuits that AT&T has installed to the sites. Motorola conducts a "24-hour" test of connectivity to the site. At least three of the sites have not passed that test which the circuit must pass that test before Motorola will move on to the optimization of the circuit.

At this stage of the game I believe its called "We want more money!".... I usually bah humbug conspiracy theories but in this line of work.... One sees big bucks flying out windows far too easily LOL! No matter who is doing the "wiring" its gonna be issues.... This project is now 3/4 of an year behind due to far too many of these kind of issues. I do hope someone at AT&T does realize they may end up losing big time if this continues, after all, this isn't the only PS Communications project they are involved with nationwide. And everyone is watching. Closely!

I' hearing (or not hearing) something interesting. I listen to the Muncie tower, and part of the time I am not hearing the BSU PD mobiles. I hear the base (console) fine. I'm hearing the other services OK too. They have been going into site trunking a lot recently, but that never was a problem before. Weird.
