Horry County & Myrtle Beac PD

I'm trying to get Horry County & Myrtle Beach Police but all frequencies listed via Radio Reference are silent! I know they are going to P25 sometime this year and I think the ws1098 is P25 capable. Yet every Horry county frequency listed is silent. (I live here so I know better!) I've run all the updates.

I also have an old Uniden handheld that still picks up Horry County fire dispatch. (154.800mhz) That frequency is programmed into the ws1098 and is priority yet it mostly ignores any broadcast while the hand held plays it completely? I have only PD & FD frequencies programmed at this time, Palmetto 800, trunked & conventional (54 freqs).

Is my scanner not capable? Should I send it back? It's too expensive to keep if it won't do the job.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Horry County is now a P25 Phase I digital system. You can find the system at https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=9279

Your scanner is capable, although you'll also want to make sure it has the latest firmware.

Horry County has already made the switch to P25.

You should have this system programmed to receive all fire agencies & all law enforcement agencies except SCHP: https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=9279

The only agency using Palmetto 800 in Horry County is SCHP. The Palmetto 800 system will also be moving to P25 in the coming months.

As for the scanner, it should be perfectly capable of receiving the system. I'm not familiar with the Whistler scanners so someone else might be able to help make sure you have it setup correctly.

Have you updated the library in EZScan and copied it to the scanner?
Alternatively, you can set it up manually in EZScan.

Yes... I've performed all the updates, firmware, databases. copied to SD card... I don't know how to enter a P25 digital manually...

Have you tried browsing to the correct system on the scanner? The system name shows as "Horry County".

Yes. Browsing systems only show Palmetto 800 via EZ Scan and SD card database....

Sounds like the updated library is not on the scanner. Check this link for the process to update and copy:

Once the SD card has the new library, you should have no trouble browsing to the system and adding it to scan lists etc...

I've been reading that link. When I update library it says I have the latest. When I select "Copy to Scanner..." it says the files are the same.

EZ Scan connects directly to Radio Reference yet is shows no "P25" systems.

Looking at the link above for Horry County I downloaded the data as CSV and copied to a text file and even tried importing from clipbord... the following...
