I can't believe that nobody mentioned the hostage situation at the BancFirst that happened this afternoon. It was the branch at I-40 & Meridian, just off of Highline Blvd. Apparently, some guy with marital problems ran in and demanded to speak to his wife. He took hostages, then released the customers pretty quick. The clerks were held hostage for a while but all eventually were let out or escaped. He was cuffed after about two hours w/ no injuries to anyone. I tried listening to the whole thing but I think it all took place over ProVoice. Didn't hear a thing. Probably digital tac channels.

I listened right up to the point they cleared everyone, just have not been in a position to post about it. I cost most of it on the normal Hefner channel.

Next to a scanner...
Yea, you could see one cop with his old "brick" radio in on it (saw it on the news), so it couldn't have all been on TAC channels.

The Thursday morning, March 9th, newspaper had a big color picture of it on page 13A which is the front page of the Local Section. It shows the smirking arrestee (an obvious dumbass) being searched by some officers. You can see one of them in that group has a MA/COM radio on his belt.

Maybe some of them were not tactical units. I also saw Sheriff cars and FBI jackets in those video clips that you mentioned Mark. I wonder if they were ALL linked by the new radio system or not.

It never even occurred to me to scan the feds until the thing was almost over. Someone happened to mention the FBI being there and my friend reminded me that the feds were now involved. It was too late to catch anything, though. I'm seriously wondering if the feds are all going to jump on the ProVoice system before too long.
