Im gettin nothing.

I have that freq and many others in my scanner. I can not for the life of me hear anything on that freq ever. It does not help that I am in the basement but anyway, could it be I need an outside antenna? If so what one would be best for me? Anyone else have any other suggestions as to why I am not getting anything on this freq.

I'm on the second floor and don't pick up anyone except neighboring towns and Troop G. That's with the stock antenna on my 250D.

Get an external antenna if possible! I would recommend a discone. I have a cheap Spyder discone and I get such a strong signal now that I have to use the attenuation on my Pro 96.

My question is are they using 39.46 as much as 45.86 hotline?

Different counties. I often use the 45.86 morning hotline check to see how well (poorly) I'm hearing surrounding towns.
