Ok so my problem for about 3-4 years now is I can not get Fairfield County Hotline. It’s driving me insane. I can not for the life of me understand what’s going on and every time I post something people don’t know or don’t tell me what I need to know.

So my question is this, those of you who read this that can hear Fairfield County hotline please tell me what you are using.

I am using, 39.46000 with a 110.9 P, 154.10000 with 179.9 PL and another with 151.4 PL. Also I have entered 46.16000 with 141.3 PL.

Am in the basement but when I go outside I still don’t hear the hotline. And I know for a fact they are talking. (A friend works @ a PD and tell me when to listen)

Maybe I am doing something wrong or not putting the right info in.. All I know is its DRIVING ME NUTZ not being able to hear it.

Uniden 250D no Card as of yet.

Thanks Up Front!!!

Are you sure you have the correct PL Tones? Do you have it set to Tone Squelch? 2 more questions, what if you set the squelch to CSQ do you hear it then? 46.16 is Statewide Fire, do you really need a tone on that one? Them PL tones can mess you up, or filter out who you want to listen to.

154.100 has 2 PL tones for Fairfield county, 179.9 PL Countywide Police Hotline - Upper County
............................................................ 151.4 PL Countywide Police Hotline - Lower County
Might want to check those out.

Is it only the 250 that is not working? (do you have another scanner)

Be careful that the setting for the PL is not -110.9 which would allow all except the 110.9

Has anyone else received the freq at your location?

Are you using outside antennas? If so check connections & coax.

What changed 2-3 years ago? New scanner, new antenna, etc?

Perhaps the transmitters have changed. If that system is setup like the 45.86 hotline, it is a base radio setup and is not used by portables. They may not be putting out what they used to for power.

Ok

Ok so I will try to enter the 39.46000 and 154.10000 . No PL or anything just straight.

As far as "Do you have it set to Tone Squelch?" not sure ill have to look @ the setting in the scanner. Never seen it before.

Nothing has changed and no I don’t know of anyone else trying to get the hotline. I do not have an outside antenna. Suggest any?

I do not believe portables are able to receive the hotline, just PD HQ's. I think I heard the hotline once and it went away. So I know I am able just not sure what went wrong.

I do have anther scanner and same thing with that. No luck.

Ok

So i checked and I had my scanner set to Tone SQ. I now have it set to CSQ, but there is an option for Tone Search... which is better?

Low band and no external outside antenna = poor/no recieve. You mentioned that you in the basement, double whammy.

New scanners for whatever reason do not seem to pull in lowband as much as the older ones did.

Get yourself an outside antenna. Even with the "rubber duck" that you may be using, its still not going to really help.

In addition, some atmospheric conditions can really hamper things. Some days I get my local tower if it was next door, other days your lucky it breaks squelch. This is a 250 watt radio sitting at about 2000ft. It can be heard (usually)

A roll call is done on Sunday mornings at 8:00 am on 154.100
You might want to listen then.
Good Luck

if you had your scanner set to tone sq and the pl was set correctly, you would have heard the traffic. It doesn't matter if you are on no tone or tone search. Both allow all traffic but the search will display PL?DPL info after it decodes the signal.

39.46 has radio test/roll call most mornings around 6am. I have found that the antenna on my BC250D doesn't perform as well with low-band.
