BOULDER, Colo. -- Several fire departments battled a fully engulfed burning house located in the 600 block of Longs Peak Drive in Boulder Sunday afternoon.
Cherry Vale fire, North Metro fire and Boulder Rural fire were among those that helped put out the fire.
Neighbors said they heard small explosions when the fire first started.
Firefighters said all residents of the home were accounted for and there was no one in the home at the time of the fire. A search of the house has not yet been conducted because the house was not safe to enter.
It took several hours for the fire to burn itself out. Firefighters said the home is a total loss.
Crews were still on scene late Sunday afternoon trying to contain the fire from catching area trees and landscaping. Fire investigators and a building inspector are trying to figure out what started the fire and will determine when the house will be safe enough to search.
