Looks like The Houston Airport System is on Starnet. Try 22416 on Starnet. The EDAS system is quiet. If this is the case wonder who if anybody will use the EDAS?

hum, I will have to check that out (I'm not saying i don't believe you). Why would they throw away a good working EDACs system and go to STAR-Net with all of it's problems.

It might be they are undergoing a system upgrade or maintenance, and have been loaned some StarNet Radios. I'm not hearing the Control Channel at all.

It also could have been knocked out by the recent storms, either water in the repeater gear or a lightning hit.

I know this weekend Continental Airlines is doing a PBX upgrade at IAH as well as finishing a conversion to a new Air to Ground Radio system at IAH as well.

The Houston airport will be switching to Star-net. It has been in the works for sometime now.

I'm curious as to why they would be throwing out a system that's only a few years old. The only advantage to being on STARNet would be to have a wider coverage area.

I ran a logger last night, and captured the following ID's which come back as unidentified on STARNet (I primarily monitor downtown, but it could be any site the way I'm configured) If I heard audio on it this morning, my comments are after the TG number.

As a side note, there was no activity logged on the Airport Systems EDACS, and it appears the control channel is still off the air.

If the edacs system gets replaced with starnet, it would make sense to reuse those frequencies within starnet. Once the old system gets shut down, the frequencies won't be in use anyway. Of course it's the gubmint, and they rarely do things that make sense.

I personally am looking forward to this merger, because I have never been able to hear anything on the airport system, after two separate programming attempts. I don't know if I am doing something wrong, or am too far away, or what. I've tried both wide and narrow, entered the freqs in correct order several times, still nothing. I have no problem with starnet, so once they are on that I should have no more problems.

We unplugged the H.A.S. Edacs system at 12:40 on 6/26. The repeaters were removed from the Jensen tower site.

About 70% of the County Smartzone radios have been delivered to airport users, with the balance on the way.

H.A.S. has a total of 15 channels (10 from the old SBC system), and will be installing sites on the 3 airports with these channels in melded into the SmartZone.

It amazes me how many sites StarNet seems to be adding. There is Pasadena. Is that one or two sites? There was something about Galveston. I haven't heard anyone say anything about that. Is Galveston still on line? Now kludge is talking about airport sites.

Hey kludge... You say three airports... Are you including Ellington?

I guess the changeover is to talk to other agencies if needed. I am glad to see I was not the only one to catch the changeover. Thanks for the many responces to my orginal post. Wonder about HISD?

Every body is going to STAR-Net, they are trying to get Waller County to go to STAR-Net. I wouldn't be suprised if the whole state or part of the nation went to STAR-Net (That would be awesome)!!

They built a new Texas City site. The Pasadena TRS is still it's own, the Wide system still has the sys id as before, so i don't think it has gone over to STAR-Net yet (but it may have, if it did would it switch sys id's?). Doesn't Pasadena still use the local system for their ownselves?
