UASD shows my systems in alphabetical order on the PC screen, but in my scanner, they appear to be in SQK order...ALMOST. They're listed in SQK sequence from 1 to 19 (for the numbers I've used), and then the order seems to get scrambled, somewhat. The remainder of the systems seem to be listed adjacently, if they have a common SQK, but not in strict numerical sequence. If that's what was intended, then what kind of sorting method is that?! Or, did I hose something up?

The way I get around this is to rename each system with a number at the front:

01-Police
02-Fire
03-DPS
04-Business

UASD will load them in order this way.

Interesting, but I still don't understand the way they are loaded now. The ones after 1-19 are not in alphabetical, or numerical, order.

I figured it out. I'm going to post again under 'Uniden software error', in the Uniden group. I think youu will find that if you have a SQK evenly divisible by 10, it will be listed last of the ten with a common first digit, which would be correct for 10, but not for subsequent multiples of 10.

ARC software allows you to sort systems by SQKs using 2 methods. The "Uniden" method puts the 0 SQK after the 9 SQK and 10 after 19 etc.

Just curious - why does it matter what order they are in?

Well, it's not the end of the world if they're not in order, but for example, I have 3 Montana systems, and they were numbered 38, 39, and 40, which I like to see listed adjacently, in that order. But, there were some others numbered in the low 40s, which got stuck in the list after the first two. My anal-retentiveness didn't like that!

Not only that, but I'm a former computer programmer, and I "needed" to know why that was happening. I still think their programmer didn't know how to write a sort. ;-)
