How did Radio Shack get its name?

The ham "radio shack" has its origins in the radio room on ships, which was often made of wood and was separate from the other parts of the ship and referred to as "the radio shack". So, it was a play on words for the hobby at the time - Radio Shack was founded in 1921 as a ham radio supply store.

Back in the days of Yonder,,

RadioSHack had the smell of tobacco..the brown indoor/outdoor rugs..the pegboard...OOOHHHH the pegboard..

No cell phones,,Lacking the know nothing sales staff...

RS Used to be an OASIS for those who could use a solder gun,,Crimp their own F connectors..
when men climbed their roofs to mount television antennas..

Used to be for die hard electronics buffs,amateurs,fabricators..hobbyists....

IM getting teary,,I need to stop...My apologies..
