how do i set the scanner to only scan certain channels via freescan. like is there a way to have it set so i can for example press a button on the scanner and it will only scan certain things, and certain buttons would represent different sets of groups to be scanned

Welcome to RR. You don't say what scanner you have. You can go to your account page and add your equipment to your signature and add your location. This helps others assiot you.
You can assign "Quick Keys" to systems, sites, and groups on the Uniden DMA scanners. Then when you press the corresponding button it turns that assigned item on and off.
